The deal, in plain words.

By installing Alide, creating an account, or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use Alide - and if you've already installed it, uninstalling the extension and deleting your account ends the agreement.

This page and our Privacy Policy are plain-language summaries of one document: the complete Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. That document is what you are agreeing to, and where a summary and it differ, it is the one that applies. How we treat your data is Part II of it, summarised on the privacy page.

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live. Alide is not directed to children. If you're using Alide for an employer, you're confirming you have the authority to accept these terms for them.

One account per person. Don't share your sign-in link or let someone else use your account - your usage allowance and your history both belong to your account, and we treat activity on it as yours.

Alide reads the prompt you're writing on a supported chat site and suggests how to make it clearer. That's the whole product. It is a writing assistant, not a professional adviser.

Suggestions come from an AI model and can be wrong. They may be inaccurate, incomplete, or ill-suited to what you actually meant. You are responsible for what you send. Never treat Alide's output as legal, medical, financial, or professional advice, and check anything that matters before you rely on it.

Alide works on the chat sites we list, and those sites are run by other companies. They can change their pages at any time, which can break Alide's ability to read the prompt box until we catch up. We aren't affiliated with any of them.

Alide is free right now. The free plan includes 20 full prompt reviews every 30 days, up to 4 a day during the launch period (the standing allowance is 10 every 30 days, up to 2 a day, and the launch expansion is temporary), counted from your first review in a period, along with the grammar and clarity checks that run locally on your own machine and don't count against anything.

A review is counted when you start working through a prompt with Alide - answering its questions and building the result. Typing in the box and reading what Alide suggests about your draft is not counted, and neither is anything else you do with a prompt once it has started.

We may change what the free plan includes. If we reduce it, we'll say so on the pricing page before the change takes effect. The free plan stays free: we will never start charging an account that has not chosen a paid plan itself.

Pro is a paid subscription and lifts the review limit. It costs $10 a month or $100 a year, and Team is priced per seat and arranged by talking to us. Payment runs through Stripe and we never see or store your card. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel, at the price you signed up at. You can cancel any time from your account page, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.

You keep every right you have in what you write. We claim no ownership of your prompts, your drafts, or anything you produce with Alide's help.

You give us permission to do one narrow thing with that text: send it to our model provider and back so a suggestion can be produced for you. That permission exists only to run the service, lasts only as long as the request, and covers nothing else. As the Privacy Policy explains, your prompts are not stored in our database at any point, and are never used to train models.

Don't use Alide to:

Break the law, or help someone else do it. Produce content that sexualises minors, incites violence, or harasses a real person. Generate malware, phishing pages, or credential-harvesting content. Impersonate someone else. Infringe copyright or trade secrets you don't hold.

And on the technical side: don't try to break, overload, or reverse-engineer the service; don't automate access outside the extension, script it, or resell it; don't work around usage limits by creating extra accounts; and don't upload anything designed to damage our systems or another user's.

If you do any of this we may suspend or close your account. Where it's reasonable to do so, we'll tell you why first.

You can stop any time, and you never have to ask us. Uninstalling the extension stops Alide on that device; it does not delete your account, which is a separate choice you make separately. Deleting your account - from its settings or from your account page - removes it and the records linked to it from our active database: your email, your settings, your suggestion history, your usage records, and any connected-service credentials. There is no notice period and no exit interview.

What deletion does not reach, because no honest version of this promise can. Copies already held by a provider acting for us are not necessarily erased the same instant. Backups keep a copy until they expire, and we don't restore from one to bring an account back. Aggregate and de-identified figures, which no longer point at you, stay. And we keep the limited billing, tax, security, fraud-prevention and dispute records the law requires. Section 18.2 of the full Terms of Use and Privacy Policy sets out exactly what survives deletion, and that section is the one that governs.

If you are ever on a paid plan, cancelling lives on your account page and goes through Stripe's own billing page, where you can also change your card or download past invoices. Cancelling keeps your access until the end of the period you have already paid for; it does not delete your account, which is a separate choice you make separately.

Deleting your account cancels any paid plan at the same time, so you are never billed for an account that no longer exists. If we cannot reach Stripe to cancel it, we stop and delete nothing - you keep both your account and your subscription, and you can try again or email us. We will never leave you paying for something you cannot log in to.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we're required to act on by law. If we ever discontinue Alide entirely, we'll give reasonable notice so you can export anything you want to keep.

Alide is provided "as is". We don't warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular moment, and we don't warrant that its suggestions will suit your purpose. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Some places don't allow those exclusions. If you live somewhere that doesn't, this section applies to you only as far as local law permits, and it doesn't remove consumer rights you have by statute.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Alide is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost business - including anything that follows from acting on a suggestion Alide produced.

Our total liability for any claim relating to Alide is capped at whichever is greater: the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited - including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

We may update these terms as the product changes. When we make a material change, we'll update the effective date at the top and give notice in the extension or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Alide after that means you accept the new terms; if you don't, delete your account.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and Alide each consent to that jurisdiction.

If you're a consumer outside the United States, this doesn't deprive you of the protection of mandatory laws in the country where you live, or of the right to bring a claim there.

Before filing anything, please email us - almost everything is faster to fix by asking.

If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest stays in force. If we don't enforce something right away, we haven't given up the right to enforce it later. You can't transfer this agreement to someone else; we can transfer it as part of a merger or sale of the business.

The entire agreement between you and Alide about the service is the complete Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, together with this page and the Privacy Policy summary, which are plain-language summaries of it. Where a summary and the complete document differ, the complete document is the one that applies - it carries the limit on our liability, the licence you give us for your content, the acceptable-use terms and the retention periods, and nothing on this page narrows or replaces it.
